What is the option to pay in installments on Shop Pay?
When checking out with Shop Pay, you have the option to pay now or later. Paying in installments on Shop Pay lets you split your purchase into 4 equal, biweekly installment payments with 0% APR, or monthly installment payments with no hidden or late fees.
Which payment methods are accepted if I use the option to pay in installments on Shop Pay?
Debit cards are accepted as a payment method for Shop Pay Installments orders. In some cases, credit cards might also be available for certain orders.
Can I use Shop Pay Installments if I'm an international customer?
Shop Pay Installments is available only to customers who reside in the United States, Canada, or the United Kingdom, have a supported mobile phone number from one of those countries, and use a payment card with a billing address in one of those countries.
Is there a limit to how much I can spend on a single Shop Pay Installments order?
Yes. In the United States, the order value limit is $30,000 USD, including discounts, shipping, and taxes.
Can I pay in-store with Shop Pay Installments?
Yes, Shop Pay Installments is available at retail locations for stores in the United States.
Can I pre-qualify for a purchase amount before visiting the store?
No. An application for Shop Pay Installments can only begin with a live checkout. Applying in store only takes a few steps, and you'll get a real-time decision in minutes.
Can I buy gift cards with Shop Pay Installments?
No. Gift cards can't be purchased using Shop Pay Installments. If a customer wants to purchase gift cards along with eligible products, they need to place 2 separate orders.
Are there late fees?
No. There are no late fees if a scheduled payment is missed.
What if I miss an installment payment?
There are no late fees for missed scheduled payments. However, partial payments or late payments might affect credit score or future eligibility to use Shop Pay Installments.
What if I make a return on a purchase made through installments with Shop Pay?
Customers should contact your store to request a refund. If the return is approved under your return policy, the refunded amount is applied to the original payment method within 3–10 business days and the balance is updated.
- If the refund is less than the total purchase balance: it might not lower the next payment. Instead, there may be fewer payments, a smaller final payment, or both.
- If the refund is more than the purchase balance: the difference is returned to the original payment method within 3–10 business days.
- If the order includes interest payments: paid interest isn't refunded.
